New Ladies Development team Manager appointed

MTLFC are pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew Robinson as our new Ladies Development team manager.

Matthew is a UEFA B license qualified coach with a wealth of previous football experience and knowledge at a number of levels. These include spells coaching abroad where Matthew has held coaching and leadership roles at Academies in the USA and Australia, as well as working in grassroots UK football with Chesterfield Town, Mini kicks, and a spell as Manager of Hasland Ladies.

Working under the guidance of 1st Team manager Tony Palmer, Matthew will play a key role in developing our current development team squad and will also be pivotal to the integration of players from the older junior sections into our Ladies teams as the club seeks to develop and produce its future 1st team players. 

On Matthews appointment 1st team manager Tony Palmer said "Hopefully a partnership will form bridging the gap between the development team to the first team. The appointment of Matt will help improvement and guidance of players to push for the first team"


Matthew will bring a wealth of past coaching experience and knowledge to the Development team Manager role. When asked what he feels he will bring to the role and what he will expect from the team Matthew said;

The players and the team as a whole will soon learn that I am very approachable and passionate about people and creating the appropriate learning and a competitive environment that will nurture the player and group to become leaders with the right mentality and attitude as a platform to excel. I am a firm believer in character development and the nurturing the right attitude towards the game, oneself and others, then performance comes in. I like to see players constantly seeking opportunities to further develop and help others, help each other, collaborate in a compassionate and harmonious way. I will be rolling out over time my many experiences and methods that I have gained over the years.”

 Speaking on the appointment Club Secretary Andy Arnott said;

             “In Matthew we have brought in someone who has an excellent coaching knowledge and background in the Junior, Senior, Male, and female game. Matthew will bring a drive, passion, enthusiasm, demand strong ethics, and have a determination to succeed for himself and for the players. His role will be key to producing future 1st team players as well as ensuring that that the Development team are successful. Matthew will also be instrumental in supporting and progressing our Junior players from our u16s and u18’s to make the transition from Junior Football to be able to meet the demands and step up to senior football. Mansfield Town Ladies FC are really pleased to have secured the services of Matthew and look forward to him being a part of our Football Family”


Matthew will start his role on Sunday 2nd July when Pre-season training commences where he will work with Tony Palmer,1st team Manager.
